【September 29】Hosted the “Mid-Autumn Harvest Moon Telescope Viewing Party”.2023.10.03

September 29 was the mid-Autumn harvest moon and full moon.

For this occasion, the University of Hyogo’s Institute for Nature and Environment SDGs Promotion Office hosted the Mid-Autumn Harvest Moon Telescope Viewing Party for students living in dorms, families of our professors, and other participants.

Thankfully, the skies were clear that night, and the approximate 100 participants could see the moon and Saturn through small telescopes.

The majority of participants were international students, so Lecturer Shinya Narusawa (an astronomer) explained how the shape of the moon is seen in different countries and about the moon viewing culture of Japan, making it an excellent international exchange event.

These are initiatives to achieve SDGs Goals 4 and 17.
