An online seminar was hosted on “Landscape New Stream Seminar Agricultural Landscape and Regional Sightseeing”.

[Graduate School of Landscape Design and Management] 2022.12.01

Agriculture is a primary industry in the production of food products. Agricultural lands, such as rice paddies and tea plantations, are used according to characteristics of the climate and region, so various types of landscapes are created, and there are many cases where the scenery expresses the characteristics of the region.
On the other hand, we see cases where the previous scenery had changed due to factors such as changes to the morphology of the farm.

At the seminar hosted on November 28, cases were cited regarding how to create the characteristics of a region with agricultural landscapes as a resource in Taiwan, which has a similar climate to Japan, and in Awaji-shima. Professor Chung-Yu of the Department of Agriculture of National Ilan University in Taiwan gave a lecture on “Various Farms and Regional Scenery in Taiwan”, and Associate Professor Yoshi Takeyama of the Graduate School of Landscape Design and Management, University of Hyogo gave a lecture on “Agricultural Landscape and Tourism Resources in Awaji-shima”.

Also, the general discussion was about “The Diversity of Regional Contributions of Farmlands”, which was carried out by Professor Satoshi Yamamoto and Associate Professor Takashi Fudano of the Graduate School of Landscape Design and Management, University of Hyogo. At the end, President Isao Nakase of Hyogo Prefectural Awaji Landscape Planning & Horticulture Academy gave summary remarks on the symposium, bringing it to a strong conclusion.
